Florida Trip, Day 1
minutes after 8:00am, thanks to Grandpa Dude. After a minor struggle
getting through airport security (I'd forgotten to remove a small
multi-tool from my bag - iylts being mailed to me) we were on our way.
First flight to Cleveland (a Continental hub) was ok. It was a small
jet, two seats on one side, one seat on the other. The stewardess made
us change seats because Emma was riding on a lap and only certain
seats had an extra oxygen mask! Luckily we only had to move to the
row behind where we were originally assigned.
Next came the part we had been concerned about: making the connecting
flight in Cleveland with only a 40 minute layover. Luckily the flights
were both in the same concourse, so we didn't have far to go. By the
time we got off of the first plane, retrieved our gate-checked bag and
walked to the gate it was time to board the flight to Orlando.
Second flight of the day was pretty nice. We were plesantly surprised
to find that we would be served lunch on the flight. Lunch was a
(tiny) turkey sandwich, corn chip, and mini Hershey bar along with a
drink. They even gave Emma a meal even though we didn't pay for a seat
for her!
We arrived safely in Orlando, collected our checked bags without a
problem and met up with Grandpa Goerlich and Roberta. Then it was off
to Cocoa Beach.
Didn't do much after getting to the Best Western. Took a walk on the
beach, went to dinner at IHOP, then back to the room and off to bed.
Big day planned next: Dinosaur Store, swimming in the (heated) pool,
building sandcastles on the beach, lunch on the pier.
Stay tuned for more updates!
